Terror in Mid Air ?

LAX Control, this is Frontier Airlines Flight One-Six-Eight Heavy... We are declaring an emergency... We have lost cabin pressure... Requesting immediate landing clearance...

To all aircraft on landing approach, this is LAX Control... Maintain holding pattern, ten thousand feet... Flight One-Six-Eight, you are cleared for landing, runway Four-Niner...

Okay, so it wasnt really an emergency... The cabin failed to pressurize at 5,000 ft, not at 30,000 ft... So it turned out to be much less dramatic than I had hoped... The oxygen masks didnt even drop down... And the flight landed smoothly after circling LAX for two hours to burn off fuel...

Curse my karma... My life's so boring.... Nothing exciting ever happens...

Hahaha!!! Everytime I fly I wonder if the All-Famous Oxy mask will ever drop down but nothing serious should happen...No luck so far...

Something similar to what happened to you happened when I was a little kid flying from Hyd to Chennai...I kept looking up excited...Too bad...But a couple of weeks later an airbus A-320 crashed in Bangalore...I always wondered whether it was the same flight that gave us minor trouble as it was also an A-320!!!

@anu russell
you too seem to have this need for an adrenaline rush :) my main fear about an emergency landing is about the plane catching fire and burning up my bag with all the irreplacable "cheap" clothes i picked up from the clearance racks at Banana Republic and Express :) :D
as a matter of fact, my aircraft was an Airbus A-319 (its practically the same as an A-320)

@seashells
guilty as charged :))

@second_wind
that low life b*****d !! this means war, you know !! nobody, and i mean nobody, messes with the Fossolini family...

Holy mother of God. If someone announced that on a flight I was on, that would be just enough to send me in a state of heart attack!

PS: vacation... had gone to meet a friend...

@sinusoidally
well we were only 5,000 ft up and i knew enough about aircraft to know that neither me nor the aircraft were in any real danger... here's a wikipedia article that should put you at ease should this ever happen to you...

Oh Fosix, for all you know the pilot had a mild case of indigestion. Having worked in the airline industry most of my previous life, I know that "loss of cabin pressure" usually refers to gastronomical problems in the cockpit...

In case you were wondering how my previous life ended, I was piloting the plane anurussel was in a couple of weeks too late :sigh

@searchinformrmojorising
sacre bleu !! are you, by any chance, insinuating that people who blog regularly dont have a life ??
you do realize of course, that there is a big difference between "having a life" and "being just too damn lazy to blog" :D
